Mr. Bottar’s practice is limited to the trial of medical malpractice, birth injury, wrongful death, product liability, and severe personal injury actions, with an emphasis on the prosecution of matters involving brain and nerve injuries (e.g., cerebral palsy, Erb’s palsy, stroke, post-concussion syndrome, paralysis), misdiagnosis, unsafe jobsites, common carrier incidents (e.g., trains, buses), and defective prosthetic devices.

Mr. Bottar is a graduate of Colgate University and a summa cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, where he is an adjunct professor and, in that capacity, devotes more than 100 hours a year to teaching students about the practice of law.  He is also the co-author of the Civil Practice chapter of the Syracuse Law Review’s Survey on New York law, and is a regular speaker at the College of Law on various topics.

Mr. Bottar is the Upstate Chair for the Young Lawyers Committee of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.  He also sits on the Board of Directors of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association.  He is a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum®, and is a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association, Central New York Women’s Bar Association, American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.

Mr. Bottar is a past member and executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review, which published his note: “Robbing Peter To Pay Paul: Medicaid Liens, Supplemental Needs Trusts and Personal Injury Recoveries on Behalf of Infants In New York State Following the Gold Decision.”  Mr. Bottar’s publication, which addressed the complexities of personal injury settlements, has been cited as an authority by the Practicing Law Institute (twice), American Jurisprudence Proof of Facts, the American Bar Association’s Real Property Trusts and Estates Law Journal, and the South Texas Law Review.  In addition to the Syracuse Law Review, Mr. Bottar is a past member and competition co-director of the Syracuse University College of Law Moot Court Honor Society, was inducted into the Order of the Coif, the Order of Barristers and the Justinian Honorary Law Society, and received the law school’s Robert W. Miller (Trial Advocacy) Award, the Robert M. Anderson (Scholarly Publication) Award, the Moot Court Team Award, and the Syracuse Law Review Distinguished Service Award.Mr. Bottar is also active in the Syracuse community.  He is a strong supporter of Syracuse University, as well as Syracuse University athletics through the Orange Club.  He is a past-member of the Board of Directors of Contact Community Services (a non-profit human services agency that provides mental health, behavioral and safer school programs to individuals, schools and school districts throughout central New York), and the Advisory Board of the Central New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.  In addition to representing the injured at Bottar Leone, PLLC, Mr. Bottar has devoted considerable time to pro bono counsel through inMotion, Inc. the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. and Human Rights First – a nonprofit, nonpartisan international human rights organization – which recognized him in 2005 as part of a team of attorneys that secured political asylum for a Sierra Leonian refugee.Mr. Bottar began his legal career as a litigation associate with the New York City office of White & Case, LLP, the 7th largest law firm in the world (1,800 attorneys in 25 countries), with professional highlights including representing a French bank on trial in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (Garamendi et al v. Credit Lyonnais S.A. et al, 2:99-cv-02829), and conducting depositions and internal investigations in Buenos Aires, Brussels, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai.  Immediately prior to joining Bottar Leone, PLLC, Mr. Bottar was a litigation associate with Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, the largest law firm in Syracuse, New York.

Mr. Bottar resides in Manlius, New York, with his family.
